1) Read and translate the following sentences. Explain the use of the Present Continuous Tense.
1. She is feeling dead guilty. Forgive her.
2. Maxim's jaw dropped, he was unable to absorb the things he was hearing.
3. These days many people are complaining that life is too tough.
4. He is always coming up with new ideas.
5. Look here, Michael, I’m not being critical of you.
6. I’m hoping I'll feel better by lunchtime.
7. Forgive me! I am being thoughtless. How is your son?
8. Isn't he being just a little bit unfair.

9. You’re looking so very healthy at the moment.
10. She scanned the scenery. "What I don’t understand is why we're not seeing the river."

2) Put the verbs in brackets into the Present Continuous Tense.
1. What you (read) now? I (read) “Crime and Punishment”.
2. It is a lovely day. The sun (shine) and the birds (sing).
3. He (teach) his boy to ride.
4. Where is Tom? – He (lie) under the car.

5. Why Ann (not wear) her new dress?
6. What Tom (do) now? He (clean) his shoes.
7. I can’t hear what you (say); the traffic (make) too much noise.
8. She always (lose) her glasses and (ask) me to look for them.
9. Who (move) the furniture about upstairs? – It’s Tom. He (paint) the front bedroom.
10. Mother (rest) now. She always rests after lunch.
11. Someone (knock) at the door. Shall I answer it?
12. Ann usually does the shopping, but I (do) it today as she isn't well.
13. Why you (type) so fast? You (make) a lot of mistakes.

3) Open the brackets and put the verb into the Present Simple
or the Present Continuous Tense.
1. Be quiet, please. We (work) at the translation and you (make) a lot of noise.
2. He always (go) for a walk in the evening.
3. Where is Jack? – He (meet) his girlfriend at the station. She (come) at 12 o'clock.
4. She (cry). Is something wrong?
5. In the morning I (have) little time, so I (take) a shower in the evening.
6. A decade (describe) a period of ten years.
7. Her brother (work) in Canada at present.

4) Open the brackets and put the verb into the Present Simple or the Present Continuous Tense.
